High Court Relief for IPS officer Rahul Sharma

In a relief to IPS officer Rahul Sharma, the Gujarat High Court on Wednesday quashed the order of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) and stayed governmental action against him in connection with the show-cause notices issued to him.

The Gujarat government had served six show cause notices to the officer, pertaining to service “misconduct”. Mr. Sharma has also been charge sheeted for not handing over CDs of the call details obtained while investigating the 2002 riot cases.

The Tribunal had earlier vacated the stay on taking action against Mr. Sharma, following which he approached the High Court.

“The CAT’s order has been set aside. The State went on the back foot and requested that the order be set aside saying that the Tribunal went out of its jurisdiction. The matter now has been referred back to CAT, which will hear everything afresh,” Mr. Sharma’s lawyer IH Sayed told
