The mercury level remained above 40 degrees Celsius in 13 places of Odisha on Wednesday with Sonepur the hottest place at 44.2 degrees C, while the sunstroke toll remained at 14.
The number of alleged sunstroke death cases has increased to 152 of which 14 have been confirmed as heat-related ones, a report from the office of the Special Relief Commissioner said.
Sonepur was followed by Bhawanipatna and Titlagarh at 43.5.

Other places which experienced the heat wave condition were Bolangir at 43 degrees C, Angul at 42.7 and Jharsuguda at 42.4, the Met office here said.
The maximum temperature in Bhubaneswar increased to 41.5 against Tuesday’s 40.8 degrees Celsius, it said adding relative humidity at 75 per cent.
Meanwhile, a bulletin issued by the Met office said the heat wave condition would prevail for two more days and thunder squall may occur at some places in the State.

Meanwhile, the Northeast Frontier Railway on Wednesday cancelled all trains running between Guwahati and Silchar due to heavy rain and landslides at many places on this route, an official spokesperson said.
“Heavy rain is still continuing and it has resulted in landslides at many places. We have been forced to cancel all trains between Guwahati and Silchar,” he added.
Restoration work was on, but was being hampered because of the rain, he said.
“If the weather improves, trains can run within the next three to four days. It all depends on the weather condition,” he said.
The NF Railway on Wednesday cancelled the 25657 Kanchanjungha Express, scheduled to leave from Guwahati on May 5, would remain cancelled between Guwahati and Silchar.
The 25658 Kanchanjungha Express, scheduled to leave from Silchar on May 6, would also remain cancelled between Silchar and Guwahati.
The trains would only run between Guwahati and Sealdah.
On Monday, the NFR had cancelled four other trains between Guwahati and Silchar. - PTI
