Foreign agencies behind radicals, says Sukhbir

November 20, 2015 02:57 am | Updated 02:57 am IST - New Delhi:

The Punjab government has enough evidence to prove the involvement of foreign agencies in the recent Sikh congregation organised by radicals at Chabba village in Amritsar, said Sukhbir Singh Badal, Deputy Chief Minister and president of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) on Thursday.

Mr. Badal, who was interacting with mediapersons, said the recent revelations had proved beyond doubt that the Congress was acting in close coordination with the radical elements that had organised the Sikh congregation on November 10, and also had a hand in drafting the resolutions.

“The Congress party should be declared an anti-national party in the wake of its aligning with elements having a secessionist agenda,” Mr. Badal said, adding that it was clear that conspiracies hatched by foreign elements were behind the recent incidents of sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib.

‘Malicious campaign’

Mr. Badal said, “The Congress party is emerging as the axis around which the whole conspiracy revolves. The Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) are engaged in running a malicious campaign on the social media with the single point agenda of disturbing the atmosphere of the State and destabilising the government”.

In the Cabinet meeting conducted on Thursday, the SAD-BJP government took a decision to approve a law mandating life sentence for those committing sacrilege of the Guru Granth Sahib, while earlier, the maximum sentence in such cases was three years.
