Explosions at Kanpur court, no one injured

Two days ahead of the Lawyers’ Association election, two explosions rocked the district court within span of minutes here today, but no one was injured in the incident, police said.

Two explosions occurred within span of minutes at about 1 PM in the court premises, Senior Superintendent of Police, Kanpur, Shalab Mathur said.

The SSP said strings and materials used for making fire—crackers were recovered from the spot after police rushed to the court with sniffer dogs and forensic team on receiving information about the incident.

Mathur said it seems to be a work of mischief and it is suspected that since the elections to Lawyers’ Association are just two days away someone may have used fire crackers to create panic.

The court premises are being check thoroughly, Mathur said, adding, top police officials were present on the spot.
