October 12, 2014 01:02 am | Updated May 23, 2016 04:13 pm IST - LUCKNOW:

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Saturday suspended IAS officer Abhishek Singh for allegedly treating a Dalit government employee in “inhuman” manner in Mathura district. Mr. Singh is posted as the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Mahawan area of Mathura.

Mr. Singh, who is husband of Durga Shakti Nagpal whose suspension as SDM in Greater Noida last year had triggered a controversy after she acted against sand mafia, allegedly ill-treated a 55-year-old teacher in his office.

‘Allegations baseless’ Mr. Singh has, however, denied the charges. “The allegations levelled against me are baseless,” he told journalists in Mathura.
