Two police constables and a doctor in a government hospital in Bhilai town of Chhattisgarh were arrested on Thursday for allegedly gang-raping a 20-year-old girl repeatedly for a period of over six months.

According to Durg range Inspector General of Police Pradeep Gupta, the incident came to light when the victim was found in a “distraught" condition at a temple in Bhilai on Wednesday.
“Some locals reported that a girl in a bad condition was found in a temple. Police teams rushed to the spot after which the girl told them about the assault on her,” Mr.Gupta told The Hindu .
The first assault on the victim took place on June 19, 2014 when she was admitted to the government hospital in Supela area of Bhilai for the treatment of Jaundice.

“She has alleged that the doctor administered her some drugs which made her unconscious. She was then taken to room at the ground floor of the hospital where she was sexually assaulted by two police constables and the doctor,” informed the IG.
The girl did not report the incident to the police or her parents as the accused allegedly filmed her and threatened to make it public if she reported the incident.
“The 20-year-old victim again came in contact with the three accused who assaulted her. Again in December, she was gang-raped by the same persons after which she became pregnant. The accused also gave her contraceptive pills to abort the child,” added Mr.Gupta.
The IG informed that the girl was found in a “dejected” state of mind so the police deputed “well-trained “female police constables to speak to her.
The victim’s parents were not willing to lodge a police complaint but relented after some encouragement from senior police officers.
The accused constables Sourabh Bhakta and Chandraprakash Pande and doctor Goutam Pandit have been arrested and charged under section 376 of the Indian Penal Code, the IG said.
