Dawood’s brother shot at in Mumbai, escapes unhurt

Fugitive underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Iqbal Kaskar was shot at by four gunmen in South Mumbai on Tuesday night but he escaped unhurt while his driver was killed.

Two persons, suspected to be among the assailants, were caught by the residents of the locality while trying to flee from the spot near J.J. Hospital and handed over to the police, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations) Rajkumar Vatkar said.

He said two other assailants managed to escape.

“The assailants targeted Kaskar in the firing but he was left unharmed,” police said adding his 40-year-old driver Arif Syed Abu Bukha succumbed to bullet wounds.

Bukha was declared dead before admission to a hospital.

Police were investigating whether the attack was a fallout of a gang war.

Kaskar was an accused in Sara Sahara mall land grabbing case.
