The district administration has asked all private and government hospitals to send blood samples of patients suspected to be suffering from dengue to SCB Medical College and Hospital for ELISA NS-1 and IGM tests for confirmation.
Reacting to reports published in a section of media, the chief district medical officer (CDMO) Prafulla Kumar Behera issued a circular suggesting hospitals not having ICU facility to admit suspected dengue patients. Mr. Behera however, clarified that only critical dengue patients need ICU facility.
The CDMO made it clear that till date, the SCB facility received 10 blood samples and of them only five have tested positive to dengue. And among the five patients, three have been discharged from hospitals after treatment. Only two patients are undergoing treatment in SCB Hospital, said Mr. Behera, clarifying that no one had died of dengue this year.

Meanwhile, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is again found shaky in its approach to curb the spread of dengue in the State. The viral disease has now spread its tentacles in the city as patients having dengue are detected in several places. The SCB Medical College and Hospital, the only government facility to treat the disease, is now gearing up to handle the situation.
