: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) is planning to procure new type of drones for use in anti-Maoist operations, said Director General (DG) of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Prakash Mishra in Koraput district of Odisha on Wednesday.
The DG of CRPF was in Koraput district to review the CRPF activity in Maoist-prone Koraput district and to inaugurate several infrastructural facilities of Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) stationed at Sunabeda in Koraput district for anti-Maoist operations. While speaking to newsmen, Mr Mishra said if needed drones would also be used in anti-Maoist operations in Odisha.
But he added that the drones used till now have not brought in remarkable results, so they are planning to procure new type of drones that would be fruitful for anti-Maoist operations.

Mr Mishra expressed his satisfaction over the success of anti-Maoist operations with support of paramilitary forces in different parts of the country.
Strategies that have brought successes to anti-Maoist operations in Jharkhand and Chhatisgarh would be replicated in other Maoist-prone States like Odisha, he added.
According to him, although Maoist menace has gone down with increased area dominance of security forces, this is not the time for complacency as intelligence reports suggest that naxalites are also trying to reorganise themselves.

He also felt there was a need for deployment of extra paramilitary forces in Kalahandi and Nuapada districts of Odisha, which are now being targeted by Maoists. But the decision regarding this is in the hands of the Central government, he said.
Mr Mishra inaugurated newly constructed administrative building, men’s club, officers’ mess, a swimming pool and named a road in memory of martyred CoBRA personnel.
He reviewed the issues and strategies related to anti-Maoist operations in a meeting which was attended by senior officials of CoBRA, CRPF as well as Inspector General of Police (IGP) of south-west range Yashwant Jethwa. Mr Mishra visited areas of operation of CoBRA battalion in remote pockets of Koraput district on a bike.
