Asks IT dept to file status report on closure of investigation against six Adarsh members

The Bombay High Court on Wednesday slammed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for not filing the charge sheet in the Adarsh missing files case.

“When are you going to file the charge sheet?” the Division Bench of Justices S.A. Bobde and V.K. Tahilramani asked. “Whatever material you have, you can file charge sheet. You can investigate further and file additional charge sheet,” Justice Tahilramani said.

The court directed the CBI to file a final report before the appropriate court in six weeks.

Though disagreeing with petitioner Pravin Wategaonkar's allegation that prima facie the Income Tax department seemed to have arbitrarily closed the investigation under pressure, the court ordered the IT department to file a status report in four weeks on closure of investigation against six members of the Adarsh housing society.

Mr. Wategaonkar also pointed out the discrepancy in the number of members of the society.
