Song on ‘Ram Mandir’ leads to clash

Tension spread in Ranchi following a clash between two communities over playing of a song near a mosque.

According to locals, the incident took place near M.G. Road area around 1 p.m. on Tuesday.

Some people who took out a rally to celebrate Hanuman Jayanti “started playing a song on Ram Mandir”, to which some members of the minority community objected.

No one arrested

Speaking to

The Hindu, Senior Superintendent of Police in Ranchi Kuldeep Dwivedi said: “The situation is normal now.” No one had been arrested in the case so far, he said.

“Some youth of the minority community confronted those who were playing the song and asked them to stop it. Suddenly, the situation flared up and the two groups came to blows,” residents said. They also said that some participants in the rally called members of a right-wing organisation who assaulted the Muslim youth.
