Even as the secretary of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha issued notice to several new channels and newspapers, restraining them from reporting or airing the abusive remarks made by an Akali Minister in the Assembly on Wednesday, clips of the incident went viral on various social networking sites.

Defying the Speaker’s directions, the Punjab Congress put up a screening of the video in the Sector 17 shopping plaza on Thursday evening.

The video of Revenue and Public relations Minister Bikram Singh Majithia abusing and making threatening gestures at senior Congress leader Rana Gurjit Singh (who has been suspended from the Assembly) was flashed on several news channels on Wednesday.

Till Thursday morning, the video, shot by two television stations doing a live coverage of the Assembly proceedings, was much sought after by other channels. When the two news channels went to cover the proceedings on Thursday morning, they were told that the Speaker had withdrawn the permission given to them. However, after sometime they were permitted to do so.
