Centre nod for five National Highways in Himachal Pradesh: Jagat Nadda

Under his new concept of co-operative federalism and formation of Team India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has deputed two ministers to every State for invigorating the Centre-State relations; this was disclosed by Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, who is one of the Central Ministers and in charge of Himachal Pradesh.

In a media briefing after the meeting of National and State Highway authorities and the Ministry of Roads and the State cabinet, Mr. Nadda said he along with Minister of Road Transport Nitin Gadkari had released Rs. 63 crore to the Himachal Government as an interim relief for the farmers who have suffered crop failures.

He said the Centre has declared the approval for five National Highways for the hill State and that are to be constructed in next three years. The 630 km new highways to be made are from Manali to Keylong extension of the NH 3, from Mubarakpur to Ranital NH 154, from Banikhet to Bharmaur extension of Kalka- Shimla highway NH 5, a long highway of 209 kms connecting Chango and Kaza and Bilaspur-Manali of NH 3.

He said the Centre has also agreed and sanctioned construction on Una-Basoli-Bhota road, Theog-Hartkoti road and Kumarhatti-Nahan roads. The two main highways crossing from the State NH 3 and NH 5 are to be made express highways and were given Rs. 39.35 crore straight away.

Besides this the Union Minister has also announced some short but important industrial corridor highways for the State including the Baddi-Nalagarh, Bilaspur-Kala Amb, Shalaghat-Ramshar-Nalagarh roads.
