Budget has sidelined Uttarakhand: Rawat

July 11, 2014 01:13 pm | Updated 01:13 pm IST - Dehradun:

Dehradun: The Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat said on Thursday that the Union Budget was “disappointing”.

Mr. Rawat’s disappointment was due to the “sidelining” of the requirements of the State in the budget. He had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in June seeking Rs 4,000 crore for the pending reconstruction and rehabilitation related works in the areas that were hit by the deluge last year.

The Rs 4,000 crore aid was in addition to the Rs 8,000 crore rehabilitation and reconstruction package that was approved by the UPA-II government.

Mr. Rawat had also requested the Centre for a budgetary allotment of Rs.2,000 crore as green bonus for the State. However, none of the requests were fulfilled, he said.
