Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Friday asked Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram to set his house in order before offering advice on the law and order situation in the State.
“What is happening in Kashmir? What happened in Andhra Pradesh? What is being done about the Maoist situation in other affected States,” asked Mr. Bhattacharjee.
“I would ask him to focus on his own job. I know mine…..I do not need his advice,” he said here on being asked about Mr. Chidambaram's remarks during a visit to West Bengal on April 25.

Describing it as “the worst governed State,” Mr. Chidambaram said the January 7 killings at Netai in Paschim Medinipur district “burst the bubble” and proved the presence of armed CPI(M) cadres.
“For last two years and four months, I had repeatedly brought to notice of the Chief Minister that the law and order situation is extremely bad…I lay the blame squarely on the CPI(M), which actively encourages its cadres to procure arms and indulge in violence,” Mr. Chidambaram said.
