The Central Bureau of Investigation has booked the brother and sister-in-law of former Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki for alleged graft in government contracts.
The CBI had taken up the case a decade after Nabam Tagam, an RTI activist, had in 2006 filed a public interest litigation in the Gauhati High Court alleging a scam of ₹600 crore during 2005-06 when Mr. Tuki was the Public Works Department and Urban Development Minister in Arunachal Pradesh. He went on to become the Chief Minister in 2011.
Mr Tagam, who heads an anti-graft group named Arunachal Justice Forum, had in the PIL accused Mr. Tuki of abusing his official power and position as Minister to help his kith and kin gain wrongfully, thereby causing loss to the public exchequer.

The CBI probe revealed several contracts were given without the tendering process to Mary Associates, a firm owned by Mr Tuki’s sister-in-law Nabam Mary. Her bank accounts under investigation had the former CM’s brother Nabam Hari as a nominee.
The CBI has booked some PWD officials too.
