In a shocking incident, the body of a young man was allegedly tied to a motorcycle by the neck and dragged for over 15 km by unidentified persons in Meerut in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday. The man has been identified as Mukul, a resident of the Mandi area of Hapur district.
The body bore a bullet wound and the left foot was missing due to the prolonged dragging. “The body bore several injury marks on face and head. The left foot was missing and the other one was badly mutilated. We traced the blood trail to 15 km near Mandi area of Hapur district, where Mukul lived with his family,” Superintendent of Police (Rural) Avinash Pandey said.
A preliminary investigation suggested that the body was dragged for such a long distance and dumped in Meerut’s Kharkhoda area. “A motorcycle was also found near him,” Mr. Pandey said.

The police said that an FIR had been registered but they were not sure of the motive behind the killing. The motorcycle, found on the spot, belonged to one Sachin, a resident of Rohta village of Meerut. “Mukul had borrowed the vehicle a day before,” the police said.
According to the police official, the mutilated body was spotted by passersby on Tuesday near an under-construction underpass close to Dheerkheda village. The SP said: “Criminals would not have left the motorcycle had they intended to loot him. It could be a dispute involving his friends.” However, the police could not explain how nobody noticed the dragging along the stretch.
According to family members, Mukul was a shy boy and had no enmity with anyone.
