May 30, 2012 11:45 pm | Updated July 11, 2016 10:18 pm IST - Keylong (HP):

The body of a Japanese trekker, who went missing since February 15, was recovered by the Border Road Organisation (BRO) men while clearing snow to open the road at Shrinkula Pass — the gateway to Keylong — police said.

Ata Sushi Bamba (31) was believed to have been trapped under the glacier and died in Himachal Pradesh, police said on Wednesday.

Bamba was trekking alone from Zanskar, Leh, to Keylong from February 6.

The trekker might have been trapped under some sliding glacier and died on February 16 itself, but his body could not be spotted.

The body has been brought to BRO headquarters and his relatives have been informed, the SP added.
