BJP to launch ‘remove Virbhadra’ campaign

October 07, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 08:09 am IST - SHIMLA:

Bharatiya Janata Party’s former president and Chief Whip Suresh Bhardwaj and general secretary Randhir Sharma on Tuesday said that the party would launch “Virbhadra Hatao-Pradesh Bachao” campaign in all the Assembly constituencies of the State.

“We would do street meetings, dharnas and processions in every nook and corner of the hill State and apprise the common men about the political cheating and misdeeds done by Mr. Virbhadra Singh during his controversial tenure as the State Chief Minister,” said the BJP leaders. The campaign would go in all 68 constituencies from October 8 to October 25 and from October 26 to November 10 rallies would be organised at all the organisational district headquarters. If the octogenarian Chief Minister who is facing serious corruption charges, that has brought a bad name to the State, does not resign a mega rally would be organised against his misdeeds in the hill Capital, they said. It would be addressed by the national party leaders exposing the Congress support to corrupt politicians, they added.

The party in its recent legislative meeting had passed a resolution demanding dismissal of the incumbent government after the FIR registered against Mr. Singh and his wife and subsequent CBI raids on his residence and 11 other properties for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. Despite all this Mr. Singh has failed to demit office on moral grounds. And to top it all, the CM and his henchmen instead of resigning has started accusing the BJP and Union government to be behind his exposure and misdemeanour.

The allegations, on which the FIR was registered, were levelled against Mr. Virbhadra when he was himself a minister in UPA II government and was demoted to a less important portfolio. The 15 times rise in his farm income, filing of revised IT returns and loans worth crores taken from shell companies were all happened during the UPA regime, reminded the BJP leaders.
