BJP office vandalised in Manipur

April 05, 2014 10:55 am | Updated May 21, 2016 08:44 am IST - IMPHAL:

Five armed persons vandalised the office of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Ukhrul district on Friday and asked the members who were present there not to reopen the office. The persons armed with sophisticated weapons pulled down the party flag and smashed various office items.

Though the BJP is located in the heart of the Ukhrul town, police and paramilitary persons were not aware of the attack. When asked about this, some ranking police officers in the border district reportedly said that they have not received “any written complaint”.

Sources said that the Manipur BJP unit has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission. Besides they had written to the BJP national leaders. It may be recalled that on April 2 a former Minister Khasim Ruivah and his son were abducted while returning home from a BJP election meeting. Later another activist was also abducted.
