Continuing its protest in the State legislature during the ongoing winter session, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Thursday demanded a probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation or any other agency and officials into the ‘security lapses’ for Narendra Modi’s rally on October 27 at Gandhi Maidan, which was rocked by serial blasts.
The issue has disrupted both houses of the legislature, since it began on December 6.
On Thursday, BJP legislators created a ruckus, shouting slogans in the well. Amid noisy scenes, the Assembly was adjourned.

“The deliberate apathy of the government towards security made it easy for the terrorists to strike,” Nand Kishore Yadav, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, said.
The National Investigation Agency is probing the blasts. “Our demand is to investigate security lapses. The district administration’s circular dated October 25 issues clear directions for video cameras, metal detectors, checking each person and so on, but these instructions were not followed. Who is responsible for these deliberate violations? We want an investigation either by the CBI or a retired Director General of Police or the Research and Analysis Wing. Our protests will continue till the government announces such a probe,” Mr. Yadav later told The Hindu.
The BJP staged a walkout on Wednesday, boycotting the government’s reply on terrorism.

Responding to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s challenge to the BJP to move a no-confidence motion against his government, Mr. Yadav said the party would do so when it has the numbers.
“We do not have the numbers right now. On Wednesday, he challenged us to move a no-confidence motion. He did it to divert attention from our demand for a probe. He [Mr. Kumar] is trying to lure our MLAs and also break the Rashtriya Janata Dal,” Mr. Yadav alleged.
