Bail plea of 8 Muzaffarnagar riots accused rejected

A local court has rejected the bail plea of eight accused in a case connected to the riots last year.

The eight accused — Anil, Sushil, Vinod, Surender, Bittu, Lohri, Suresh and Salekha — have been held for their alleged involvement in the Bahawdi killing case.

The order rejecting their bail plea was passed by district judge Vijai Lachmi.

According to the prosecution, an elderly person was murdered and his house burnt by rioters at Bahawdi village on September 8, 2013, during the violence which had broken out in the area following tensions between two communities.

The Special Investigation Team probing the riots cases has identified 21 accused in the Bahawdi killing case of whom 12 have been arrested.
