The Jaipur Bench of the Rajasthan High Court has asked the Director General of Police (DGP) to act against advertisements of drugs claiming to enhance ‘sex drive’.
The Division Bench of acting Chief Justice Sunil Ambwani and Justice V.S. Siradhana also sent a notice to the Press Council of India in the matter. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for November 27.
The interim order was issued on a PIL filed by Gayatri Goyal in which the petitioner had sought a ban on all advertisements that claim to cure diseases, give instant energy and enhance sex drive among individuals.

The Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 ban promotion and sale of all drugs without doctor’s prescription. The government, in its response, informed the Court that it had already issued necessary instructions to the police to prevent advertisement and sale of such drugs which claim magical remedies, and had even created a special cell for the purpose.
The newspaper in Rajasthan, particularly language newspapers, are full of advertisements of drugs - herbal, ayurvedic and allopathic - claiming to cure several diseases, enhance ‘sex drive', work as contraceptives and energy drinks and capsules.
