Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Nabam Tuki on Monday began his first day of his second term in office by putting his signature on the file on the new Lokayukta Act.
“My wish and desire is to provide a clean, transparent and accountable government to the people of Arunachal Pradesh,” Mr. Tuki was quoted as saying in presence of several newly elected legislators, in an official release.
The Loykayukta Bill was passed by the fifth legislative Assembly in March, to which the Governor had given his assent. Mr Tuki said that it was one of the promises made by the Congress in its poll manifesto.

The Congress retained power for the third consecutive term after a landslide victory winning, 42 seats in the 60-member Assembly in the just concluded polls.
The fifth Assembly was dissolved by the previous Congress government led by Mr. Tuki about six months ahead of the expiry of the term to facilitate polls simultaneously to the Lok Sabha and the Assembly.
Of the two Lok Sabha seats, the Congress and the BJP winning one each.

The BJP won 11 Assembly seats, while the People’s Party of Arunachal won five and independents won two seats.
