Addressing public rallies for the second phase of elections in poll-bound Jharkhand Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday promised to make Jharkhand as number one State in the country, while the Congress president Sonia Gandhi said that the BJP was eyeing coals and mineral of the State.

Both the leaders addressed public rallies in Jamshedpur in East Singhbhum district which goes to poll on December 2.

While appealing to vote for the BJP, the Prime Minister declared that the government would rein in all the looters of the State while benefiting it to the tune of Rs. 20,000 crore in next few years.

“The time has come that Jharkhand too will take off fast and I promise you to help it grow in as number one state of the country, if the BJP was voted to power,” declared Mr Modi while adding that this election would decide the future of Jharkhand which has enough power in terms of its mineral deposits and natural resources.

“But, unfortunately the state was looted since its creation 14 years ago”, he said emphatically. While accusing the Congress for failing to mend its ways despite the debacle it suffered in the last Parliamentary poll, Mr Modi asked why should the people of the country vote for it when it was not ready to change?.

“The country has rejected the dynastic rule as people of the country were fed up with it. So, vote for full majority in Jharkhand for a stable and strong government which could bring in development and growth in the State,” he said. .

Meanwhile, Ms. Gandhi who too was addressing public rally in Jamshedpur said that the BJP had cast their bad eyes on the coals and minerals of Jharkhand and that’s why they want to rule the State.

“Out of last 14 years most of the time it was BJP which was in power here. I want to ask them why they did not bring in development here at that time?,” she asked.

Ms Gandhi also slammed the BJP charging that in all the BJP ruled States, including Gujarat poor tribal people were forced to live under open sky with no facility of government’s welfare schemes.

“The governments there have sold out the lands of tribal people at the hands of industrialists. Now they are eyeing the coals of Jharkhand,” alleged the Congress President.

She also slammed Mr. Modi’s much publicised jan-dhan yojna. “It is being claimed that altogether seven crore accounts have bee opened under this scheme but the reality is that out of these seven crore accounts there is not even a single rupee in five crore accounts,” charged Ms Gandhi.

The BJP, she alleged, made such false promises of development and once their government is being formed they exploit the innocent people who had voted for them as they have done it in the case of bringing back the black money stashed in foreign accounts.

“During Lok Sabha poll they had promised to bring back the black money in 100 days and every people will have Rs 15 lakh in the bank account. But what happened you all know it,” slammed the Congress president.
