For the first time in the Left Front rule, ministers have been asked to sit with MLAs, discuss people’s problems and take speedy decisions besides attending the assembly to reply to questions relating to their departments.
The decision has been taken during a meeting Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had with his council of ministers and Left Front legislators in the Assembly on the second day of the budget session.
“The ministers will sit with the MLAs and leaders of respective districts to discuss various problems of the people like electricity, drinking water, ration cards and take speedy decisions,” Left Front Chief Whip Syed Md Masih told reporters after the meeting.

The Chief Minister also asked the ministers to be present in the house to reply to questions relating to their departments, he said.
The decision came ahead of the election to 82 municipalities across the state and Kolkata Municipal Corporation polls scheduled in May—June. The State Assembly poll is slated for next year.
Mr. Bhattacharjee told the Left Front MLAs that opposition Trinamool Congress would try to create trouble in the Assembly and asked them to raise various problems of the people as responsible people’s representatives, Mr. Masih said.
