The Union Ministry of Home Affairs has received complaints against misuse of funds allocated for tsunami relief when Rangasamy was the Chief Minister, Union Minister of State for Prime Minister's Office and Parliamentary Affairs V. Narayanasamy has said.
Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said the Ministry was looking into these complaints, some of them related to use of the funds for other purposes.
On Mr. Rangasamy's demand for a judicial inquiry into utilisation of funds sanctioned under Special Component Plan for Scheduled Caste persons, the Union Minister said the former Chief Minister should first clarify whether he implemented any schemes utilising the SCP fund during his tenure.

Responding to the charges made by Mr. Rangasamy at the political conference a few days ago, Mr. Narayanasamy said he was trying to “mislead” the public by making false allegations.
“Mr. Rangasamy was the Chief Minister only for his constituency and favoured members belonging to the Opposition parties,” the Union Minister said.
When sought his reaction about Mr. Rangasamy's charge that he was a victim of political drama and there was no financial crunch when he was Chief Minister, Mr. Narayanasamy said “then he should explain why several works, including the construction of medical college, were stopped half-way.”

On the ongoing seat-sharing talks with DMK for the Assembly polls in the Union Territory, he said the number of seats each party wanted to contest would be identified in a day or two.
On whether the Congress would project someone as Chief Ministerial candidate, he said it would be decided only after the polls.
Later, talking to a select group of reporters, he said though there were differences on constituencies they would be sorted out through talks. Denying reports about his wife being fielded in Congress ticket, he said “other than me none from my family would enter politics.”
