Two arrested, 78 kg poppy recovered in J&K

Two persons have been arrested and 78 kg of poppy was recovered from three trucks on Jammu-Pathankote highway at Kathua district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said here today.

Acting on specific information, police intercepted three trucks on their way to Punjab from Kashmir at Nagri Parole toll post area, 93 kms from Jammu, late last night, they said.

Two narcotic smugglers Harbans Singh alias Angha and Vijay Kumar were arrested, they said, adding during the search of the vehicles 78.5 kg of poppy was recovered.

The truck drivers, however, managed to escape from the spot, he said.

A case has been registered and hunt to arrest the truck drivers is on, they said.
