Three more deaths due to swine flu: toll reaches 26 in Gujarat

Three more persons including a one-and-half-year old girl died due to swine flu on Sunday, taking the toll due to H1N1 virus in Gujarat to 26, health officials said.

The other two victims are a woman from Surat, and one middle aged man from Ahmedabad, they said.

According to health officials, one-and-half-year-old Rudara Baldhania, who was undergoing treatment for swine flu at Mahavir Hospital in Surat city died this afternoon.

One Jagruti Jasani (25) also from Surat died at the Civil Hospital late last night, while Shankar Patel (38) succumbed to the infections at the civil hospital in Ahmedabad this morning, the officials added.

In the last two days, six people have died due to the H1N1 virus in the state which include four women and two men, they said.

The health officials said one more person had tested positive for swine flu in Ahmedabad.

So far, 176 persons have tested positive for swine flu in the state out of which 26 have died.

Health officials said at present 43 persons, either confirmed or suspected, are undergoing treatment at various hospitals across the state.
