Tanzania wants to emulate Gujarat’s agriculture, milk cooperative model

Tanzanian Prime Minister Mizengo Kayanza Peter Pinda, who is on a day-long visit to Gujarat, on Wednesday said that he wants to emulate the state’s agriculture development and milk cooperative model in his country.

“We are very impressed by various aspects of development by Gujarat especially in cooperative and agriculture sector,” Mr. Pinda told reporters here after meeting Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

“Gujarat has handled irrigation very well and we would like to replicate this model in our country whose economy is also agriculture-based,” he said.

Mr. Pinda is accompanied by a high-level delegation including Tanzania’s Agriculture Security and Cooperative Minister Stefan M Wasira and Minister for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Environment Burhani Saadat Haji.

Meanwhile, CMO officials said the Tanzanian delegation has expressed willingness to extend cooperation with the state in the field of agriculture and cooperative sector.

The meeting also discussed cooperation between Tanzania’s diamond mines and Gujarat-based diamond polishing industry, they said.

Mr. Pinda later visited Amul Dairy, the epicentre of ‘White Revolution’ in the country, in Anand district.

Talking to media persons in Anand, Mr. Pinda said he is also planning to implement the Amul model in Tanzania.
