The committee was constituted by the State government on July 24, 2015 to identify laws which are no longer needed or relevant and can be immediately repealed.

It was also to identify laws which are not in harmony with the existing climate of economic liberalisation and need change, to identify laws which otherwise require changes or amendments and to make suggestions for their amendment, a government release said here.

The committee was to consider the suggestions for revision or amendment in laws given by expert groups, if any, constituted in various departments with a view to coordinating and harmonising them.
