All work at the Calcutta High Court remained suspended for the fourth working day in a row on Monday as court employees, demanding pay revision, are on cease-work.
The more than 1,700 employees are also protesting against the State government's “indifference” to implementation of the recommendations for pay revision made by a special commission .
The government is expected to give its views on the commission recommendations shortly.

The employees, some of whom carried placards, squatted outside the gates leading to the court premises. Jayanta Mitra, president of one of the associations supporting the cease-work, was among those who discussed with Chief Justice J.N. Patel ways of ending the impasse.
The matter was also discussed when three judges of the Supreme Court and senior advocates, including Mr. Mitra, met at the Chief Justice's residence on Sunday.
