Incessant rains in Bihar since Tuesday have brightened up the prospects of Rabi crops and will ease the drinking water crisis in the drought-hit state, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Thursday.
“After the drought devastated crops in Kharif season, the much-awaited rains now will make up for the loss with the prospects of crops in the Rabi season brightening up”, he told reporters before leaving for campaigning for NDA nominees in Triveniganj, Bodh Gaya and other places.
“We expect a good showing during Rabi season ....It is also good for the state as it will ease the crisis of drinking water”, Mr. Kumar said.

Criticising RJD leader Lalu Prasad for saying that the state experienced a spell of drought as the chief minister had biscuits during solar eclipse in July, Mr. Kumar said the rains at this stage had exposed such “superstitious belief and fallacy spread among the people.”
“They (rivals) heavily bank on politics of criticism of even good jobs instead of working in the larger interest of the people,” he added.
