An envoy of Pope Benedict XVI, Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor, visited Mother House, global headquarters of the Missionaries of Charity, here on Sunday, 25 years after the visit of Pope John Paul II.
His visit was to celebrate with the bishops, priests and the laity the visit of the Pope in 1986, the Cardinal told the nuns congregated there.
Pope Benedict XVI is also interested in visiting the country, a top functionary of the Catholic church said at another event.

Pope John Paul II had come to Mother House and met Mother Teresa as he had deep love for her. Pope Benedict too has great admiration for the Mother and her work for the poor, Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor said at Mother House.
“Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor visited the Mother's tomb where he lit candles. He then went up to Mother's room and visited the chapel and a room of exhibits besides meeting the novices and sisters,” a spokesperson of the Missionaries of Charity said.
The Cardinal, who was accompanied by Vatican's Ambassador to India Archbishop Salvatore Pennachio, was at Mother House for nearly 30 minutes. He also visited Sishu Bhavan, a home for destitute children run by the Missionaries of Charity.

Cardinal Murphy-O'Connor, who arrived from Ranchi, is on a 10-day visit to the country.
