Policeman killed, 8 injured in clash

A policeman on leave was killed after being caught in a crossfire between two groups of people, allegedly belonging to two factions of a political party, during a campaign for elections to the cooperative society at Chowki Maan village in the district.

The incident that occurred Sunday night has also left eight persons injured, SSP Ludhiana (Rural) H.S. Chahal said. The deceased has been identified as head constable Harvinder Singh ‘Gora’.

All the accused have been arrested and weapons recovered.

The warring groups allegedly belong to two different factions of the ruling SAD.
