“Khadse equating AIMIM with Sanstha reveals govt. mindset”.

Hyderabad MP and chief of the AIMIM Asaduddin Owaisi.

Asaduddin Owaisi, Hyderabad MP and chief of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), said he will not be surprised if the killers of Communist Party of India leader Govind Pansare are never brought to book.

Speaking to The Hindu , Mr. Owaisi said Maharashtra Revenue Minister Eknath Khadse’s statement comparing the AIMIM with the Sanatan Sanstha, whose two members are suspected to be involved in Pansare’s murder, was designed to let Sanstha members off the hook.

“The Minister’s thought process has been revealed in his statements and I will not be surprised if Pansare’s killers are never brought to justice,” he said.

The Minister had said that there was no question of banning the Sanstha as there was no concrete evidence that the organisation was involved in illegal activity. “The AIMIM is also known for making provocative statements, do we ban it? Even if we do, will it stand in court,” queried the Minister.

Mr. Owaisi took objection to the comparison. “My party is a registered political party and owes allegiance to the Constitution of India and participates in the democratic process in this country. The same cannot be said of this organisation which tells you to disregard the Constitution and owe allegiance to a religion,” he said.
