After banning beef, Maharashtra is planning to set up an authority to nurture cattle.
Finance Minister Sudhir Munguntiwar on Thursday told The Hindu that the State had initiated a programme to set up the authority. “Around 5,000 acres of land is reserved for the purpose. Once the authority is set up, it will undertake several programmes such as setting up of goushalas , treatment of these animals and various research activities,” Mr. Munguntiwar said.
