Vinod Kumar Duggal, Governor of Manipur, has been directed to discharge the functions of the Governor of Mizoram, in addition to his own duties, until regular arrangements for the office of the Governor of Mizoram are made.

Dr. Beniwal was removed as Governor of Gujarat when the NDA government took over. She was transferred to Mizoram.

Dr. Beniwal was the Governor of Gujarat when Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the state's chief minister. She was transferred to Mizoram following her run-ins with the Narendra Modi led Gujarat Government over issues of legislation.

It was speculated that she will resign as Gujarat Governor after the Modi-government took over at the Centre, but she chose to stay on and was transferred to the North-East.
