Bribery scandal: BJP seeks to corner Cong.

The controversy over the Louis Berger International bribery scandal took a turn on Monday with the Goa BJP saying that it would ask its party government in the State to review all the other consultancy contracts given to the company by the past Congress government as well as the present one.

Addressing a press conference at the party office here, Goa BJP president Vinay Tendulakar said that the party would also ask the party government to blacklist here onwards all such companies like LBI which face bribery charges. He endorsed Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar’s decision to hand over the case to the CBI. The New Jersey-based construction management company has been charged with bribing Indian officials to secure major developmental projects in Goa and Guwahati.

In Guwahati, Assam CM Tarun Gogoi, who is in office since 2001, ordered an inquiry into the allegations of bribery for winning the contract for the Guwahati Water Supply Project.
