J&K launches scheme to rope in youth for tourism sector

Jammu and Kashmir government has launched a scheme to impart skills to youth so that they could be employed in the State’s growing tourism sector.

The Minister of State for Tourism and Revenue, Nasir Aslam Wani, has appealed to the youth to get benefited from an employment scheme ‘Hunar Se Rozgar Tak’ that envisages skill development in tourism trade.

“The youth will be trained in hotel management, cookery and trekking and tourist trades as there is a rising demand for specialised skills in these fields” the Minister said during a public meeting in Kathua, 80 km from Jammu on Friday.

Jammu province has a great potential for tourism and steps are being taken in this direction, he said, adding that the aim of creating tourism development authorities across the State is to create infrastructure base for the visitors.

The Minister, who also participated in the concluding function of 3-day Employment Fair at Kathua, highlighted the steps taken by the government to facilitate the youth for setting up their entrepreneurship units under ‘Shere-Kashmir Employment Welfare Policy’.
