Interim relief to Digambar Kamat in Louis Berger case

A Special Court in Panaji, on Wednesday evening, gave an interim relief till Friday to former Chief Minister Digambar Kamat when his anticipatory bail application came up for hearing in the Louis Berger-JICA founded Goa government Water Development project bribery scam.

The Crime Branch sought time till Friday from the Court to reply to the application of Mr. Kamat.

Mr. Kamat moved an application seeking anticipatory bail plea on Tuesday apprehending arrest even as A. M. Wachasundar, former project director of JICA( Janapense International Cooperation Agency)-funded water and sewerage project of the Goa government withdrew his bail application from the court on Tuesday.

A former vice president of Louis Berger in India, Satyam Mohanty, who was arrested by Crime Branch probing the bribery case on Monday has been remanded in three days of police custody by a local court.

Apart from Mr. Kamat, his former colleague in erstwhile Congress government, Churchill Alemao, has also been twice interrogated in the case by Crime Branch so far.

Meanwhile, the Special Court on Wednesday remanded Wachasundar to seven-days of Judicial custody. On Wednesday he was produced before the court by Crime Branch as his eight days of police custody ended on Wednesday.
