Terror organisation Islamic State (ISIS) is suspected to have carried out the hacking of Haryana Government’s State Centre for Education Research and Training (SCERT). A Haryana Government spokesperson told The Hindu that the State police had received a complaint from SCERT that its website had been hacked and a message had been posted there. He said the police have registered a case and are verifying if the hacking was indeed the handiwork of the terror outfit.
“An FIR has been registered at the Gurgaon City police station on March 9 under Section 66 of IT Act on the allegation of hacking of homepage of SCERT website on March 8 afternoon allegedly by ISIS group. Investigation is in progress,” the spokesperson said.
The matter had come to light during the Holi holidays when a message was posted on the website’s homepage. It read: ‘Hacked by Islamic State (ISIS), We Are Everywhere ;)” Apart from this, an ISIS flag was also posted on the page.

The SCERT officials immediately informed the police. The police are learnt to be working on the details of the message and the postings. They also found the Facebook page IP address (http://fb.com/100008945136328) beneath the message. The police are trying to establish if it belongs to ISIS. Meanwhile, the messages have been taken off the website and a message has been posted there saying “the site is under maintenance”.
