Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday gave instructions to the State Mission on Livelihood to work in coordination with the divisional employment offices across the State to provide guidance on development of skills to the unemployed youths from the rural areas.
Presiding over a meeting of the Mission here, Mr. Gehlot said each employment office would have an earmarked space for the Mission where the latter’s representatives would provide information about employment and training opportunities. He said the Mission should expand its activities in the villages to benefit the skilled and unskilled workers there.
Mission’s Project Director Rakesh Malhotra pointed out in his presentation that about 340 professional training programmes were being conducted at present in various districts in association with the Government departments and non-Government organisations. The trainees are apprised of new techniques for earning livelihood in the programmes of the duration of 40 to 90 days.

The Mission has so far trained about 50,000 unemployed youths in a total of 2,745 programmes. Women constituted 30 per cent of the trainees, while 83 per cent of the beneficiaries were the youths whose parents’ monthly income was less than Rs.5,000.
Among others, Chief Secretary T. Srinivasan and Principal Labour Secretary Ajit Kumar Singh attended the meeting.
