The Rajasthan Government on Tuesday made additional financial allocations for upkeep of temples, effective implementation of relief works and acquisition of land for an Indian Institute of Technology in Jodhpur.
An additional budget amounting to Rs.4.55 crore was sanctioned for maintenance and conservation of temples and development of civic facilities there. According to an official release here, tourism would be promoted at the temples while “keeping intact” religious sentiments of the devotees.
Rs.100 crore has been sanctioned in addition to the Rs.600.66 crore allocated earlier for operating relief works in the 27 scarcity-hit districts across the State. The release said Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot had approved the additional allocation in view of the frequent demands from these districts.

The State Government’s Disaster Management and Relief Department will utilise additional funds for efficient operation of the relief works, which have been extended till July 15 by a separate order.
The emergency drinking water and livestock conservation programmes running in the scarcity-hit districts have also been extended till July 15 or the onset of monsoon, whichever is earlier.
The release stated that the State Government had allocated an additional Rs.22.15 crore to the Technical Education Department for payment to the Jodhpur Development Authority for acquisition of land for construction of the new IIT in the city.
