Eco-mobility, environmental services in Smart City plan: Minister

PANAJI: The Union Minister of State in the Ministry of Urban Development, Rao Inderji Singh, has said that the Smart City project for Panaji consists of Smart Transportation, eco-mobility, and Smart Environmental services.

In a written reply to Congress MP Shantaram Naik in the the Rajya Sabha, Mr. Singh said, “Panaji city has been selected for development as Smart City in fast track round in May, 2016. Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV), to implement the project, has been formed in Panaji on August 16. The SPV will convert the Smart City Proposal into projects, with the help of Project Management Consultant.”

He also said that the city has proposed revitalisation of Church Square, interlinking of the core city and Patto, integrated urban water management, improvement of services for the urban poor in Mala Fontainhas, and conservation of heritage, culture, and biodiversity.
