Dwarka resident critical after suicide bid

A 32-year-old woman who lived in Dwarka allegedly tried to commit suicide on Friday night by jumping from the third floor of a building.

While she survived the purported bid to end her life, the injuries she sustained are said to be critical.

The injured woman has been identified as Kaushal, a resident of B-Block of the JJ Colony in Dwarka.

According to the police, it was around 11.30 p.m. that neighbours saw Kaushal jump off the balcony of the third floor residence where she lived with her family.

“The matter was reported to us and we took the woman to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital where she is currently battling for life,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Surender Kumar.

While the woman herself is not fit to give a statement yet, her husband Mohammad Taj Fazil told the police that he had a fight with Kaushal on the night of the incident over his late return from work.

Fazil works as a casual labourer. The couple have two children.
