The Congress party's disciplinary committee has served a notice to former Chhattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi seeking his explanation over the recommendation by the party's State unit to expel him from the party for involvement in allegedly fixing the Antagarh Assembly bypoll in 2014 to facilitate the victory of BJP candidate.
The party's action came a month after Chhattisgarh Congress unit suspended Mr. Ajit’s son and MLA Amit Jogi from the party for six years over "leak" of some audio tapes of purported conversation of the Jogis reported by a newspaper.
Mr. Ajit refused to comment on the notice.

"The Congress's disciplinary committee on Saturday asked the State unit as to why Amit Jogi's suspension should not be revoked. It also asked Ajit Jogi's opinion on the State unit's proposal (to expel him)," Mr. Amit said in a statement.
