Bodies of two students of the National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur, was recovered by the rescue teams at Shikari Devi in the Saraj Valley of Mandi district on Friday.
Both the students were missing since last weekend after heavy snowfall.
The police were able to trace the body through the students’ last mobile locations. The bodies, buried under the snow, were found one kilometre short of the Shikari Devi temple. They were mutilated by wild animals and could only be recognised by their identity cards and bags.

The area in the Valley was covered under snow and the administration had deployed two rescue teams for tracing the students, the officials said. The deceased have been identified as Akshay from Sujanpur in Himarpur and Navneet Rana from Barmana in Bilaspur district of Himachal Pradesh, the police said.
Locals had reported that four students had gone towards Shikari Devi for trekking on January 6 but no one had seen them returning. It was raining at the time and later there was heavy snowfall at night. The teams were sent by the administration after the parents of the students came searching for their wards to Jhanjheli in Mandi on Thursday.
