A dawn-to-dusk state-wide bandh called by CPI-ML (liberation) to protest the state government’s alleged failure on all fronts began on Tuesday.

The bandh is supported by RJD and BSP.

State RJD president Abdul Bari Siddiqui said the party had decided to support the bandh to press for implementation of land reforms following recommendations of D Bandyopadhyay Commission, implementation of common education system and a check on corruption in the Public Distribution System (PDS).

The bandh has coincided with the completion of four years of the Nitish Kumar government, which would be presenting a report card of its four years of ‘Sushashan’ (good governance).

Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the bandh, ADG (Headquarters) U S Dutt said.

All police stations have been put on high alert to ensure normalcy during the shutdown and security stepped up around vital installations like railway stations, bus stands and airports.
