Bihar Police trainees on fast after colleague’s death

Incensed over the death of their colleague after a brain surgery, policemen undergoing training today launched an indefinite fast here to demand compensation to the family of the deceased.

Around 1,000 trainees for the post of Sub-Inspector of Police assembled at Constable Training School (CTS) campus at Nathnagar and went on fast in support of their demand, ADG (Headquarters) Neelmani said.

Santosh Kumar Choudhary died after he underwent a surgery for brain tumour at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences in Patna last evening, he said, adding as the news of his death reached the school, his colleagues’ alleged irregularities on the campus and shouted anti-administration slogans.

IG (Bhagalpur zone) A R Kinni, SP (Bhagalpur) B S Meena and senior officials of the Bihar Police Academy reached the school to persuade the agitating trainees to end their fast.
